Sign Version Three

I love this shot. These two kids were keen volunteers for one of my signature acts. One of them was a magician and not shy of upstaging us.
The reason I like it is because it shows a moment where we’re sharing something they’re helping out and I’m inviting them to be the stars of the show.
It can be risky getting people involved. They might clam up and not be responsive. People can get too involved and are not aware we have to get on with the show. Overall though audience participation is one thing that makes magic great. People enjoying something live and sharing the experience together.
I also like how the signs are working. I really want to make the most of the visual image on stage. At a magicians lecture he said if someone were to take a picture of any moment in his show then it would have something going or something of interest to look at.
In this pic the sign really pops. You can’t ignore it. But it also draws attention to the case. The case being a source of magical and wondrous objects. Everything from colour to font style is considered.
You can’t see it in the pic but there are gold corner protectors that catch the light and the background is an off white vintage cream. I’m more proud about these details now. I feel good going on stage knowing that one they look the part but above all I made them.
I’m also proud of the magic night at the b-bar. Malcolm now co-hosts it and it’s been running for a long time. It’s the perfect night to try out new things and I can’t wait to share new reflections in the future.
